ANIMAL WELFARE (FURNESS)

RCN 1189973, Barrow-in-Furness

Animal Welfare (Furness) aims to help animals and people in the Furness community through our projects of support, rehoming and veterinary care. We help animal owners in our area afford the vet bills, rescue animals that are suffering, have been abandoned or maltreated. Give support to the people of our local community and their pets as best as we can. We operate 2 charity shops, a cattery and hope to expand our offer to help dogs, small animals and wildlife. We are independently funded through the kind donations of those in our community, funders, and supporting organisations in the Furness area and beyond. Animals and community are at the heart of everything we do and we want to ensure the longevity of our charity to continue to help as many animals and people as possible in the future.

ANIMAL WELFARE (FURNESS)

The Animal Welfare charity, now Animal Welfare (Furness) CIO, was originally established in 1985 by a local group of selfless and compassionate women wanting to prioritise the welfare of animals and their owners in the Furness community.

Skip forward nearly 40 years and the legacy of this original ideology has blossomed into a fantastic community driven, supportive charity that aims to help every animal and person that comes through our doors.

We now deliver our charitable services via a small number of amazing staff and a brilliant team of volunteers. Based between two charity shops – Dalton Road in Barrow and Daltongate in Ulverston; our rescue cattery on Rawlinson Street, Barrow, and soon to be confirmed our new rescue kennels and sanctuary; our team strive to make a significant difference to the lives of pets, vulnerable animals and their carers in the Furness community.

Behind the scenes we run a number of projects all established, funded and supported by you, our community, and a small number of funders who believe, as we do, that all animals should receive the love and care they deserve, and our work ensures they are funded, rescued, rehabilitated and rehomed to loving forever homes.

We aim to help animal owners in our area afford the vet billsrescue animals that are suffering, have been abandoned or maltreated. Give support to the people of our local community and their pets as best as we can.

We have developed fantastic relationships with our local veterinary groups and other animal organisations and rescues, to ensure that the needs of an animal, rather than the cost of a treatment, care or food are put first.

We never put a healthy animal to sleep and those that come into our care unwell are given the best care and opportunities to regain full health and live a long and happy life. Our dedicated team work tirelessly around the clock to rescue, rehabilitate and rehome animals in need.

Our vital work relies on the generous support of our community; through financial contributions, donations, volunteering and helping us to raise awareness -  Animal Welfare (Furness) is here because of you!
