Almost Everything

Blurb

Charlie needed a new flatmate. Becca needed a flat.

Think Normal People meets One Day. Think Fleabag without the Catholicism.

This modern love story comes with twists, turns, and a dollop of sexual tension.

They don’t know it yet, but the friendship they’re about to build will spark a love that transcends time.
Romantic or platonic? Even they’re not sure.

And when Emily (Becca’s older sister) returns from her travels; let’s just say... three is a crowd.

How will it speak to me?

One of the most powerful things about Almost Everything is its honesty. It speaks directly to souls- especially the younger generation, by offering a portrayal of love that is raw, complex, and far from the glossy version we’re sold. For older audiences, it reflects back the kind of imperfect, messy love they may know too well. This is a story for anyone who’s ever felt alone, for anyone who’s ever struggled to say how they really feel, and for those who’ve learned that sometimes, love doesn’t look like what we expected—but it matters all the more for that.

THE CREATORS

Bens Background - writer/actor

Hiya! I’m Ben- an actor and writer originally from Glasgow.

Coming from a working-class background, I’ve been lucky to pursue theatre thanks to the support of incredible funding schemes. I trained at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland through the Transitions 20/40 programme, a bursary set up to help young people like me access opportunities in the arts. Later, I completed drama school with the help of the Laurence Olivier Bursary, which allowed me to finish my training without the weight of financial pressure.

Now, I’ve written a play and can’t wait to bring it to the Edinburgh Fringe. It’s been a labour of love and not a cheap one, so any support toward our production would make a real difference. I’ve been balancing a heavy workload outside of rehearsals to keep this dream going, and your help would mean the world.

I love theatre, I love performing, and I believe finances shouldn’t stand in the way of creativity. Thank you so much for anything you’re able to give—we just want to make this the best show it can be.

Have a great day! :)

Laurens Background - writer/actor

Hi! I’m Lauren :)

Taking a play to the Fringe has been a dream of mine for years. When I met Ben, everything clicked; we had the right story, the right energy, and the drive to make it happen.

I’ve been balancing my studies with work to help cover the costs because I genuinely believe in this project. I’ve always loved anything creative... painting, writing, dance, performing, and theatre has become the space where all of that comes together for me.

We’re just two young creatives trying to carve out a place in a tough industry, and this funding would give our play the platform and support it needs to reach the audience we know is out there. Your support would mean so much. Thank you for helping us bring this to life.

Core of the project

1747748325_additional_image_5.jpgThis is my best friend's beautiful artwork, and it means the world to have it featured live on stage. Just recently, his work was showcased at the Mall Galleries in London. This entire project has always been about love; love in the story we’re telling, and love in the way we’ve created it. It’s been built with and by the people closest to us. Friends and family have come together every step of the way to make this possible, and having their talents woven into the fabric of the play makes it all the more special. 'love actually is all around'

What this would mean to us...

Financial support would mean we could afford accommodation, travel and marketing, this would help to reach the people who need this story most. If even one person in the audience feels less alone, seen, or moved to change something in their life, then it’s all been worth it. We want this play to spark conversations, offer comfort, and remind people that love—real love—isn’t always what you expect.
