Our Story

Founder’s Inspiration:

My name is Laura Mace, and I’m the founder of ALIVE and a recent graduate with a BSc (Hons) in Counselling and Psychotherapy. My journey started with my own family’s experience—my son is a survivor of knife crime. Seeing first-hand the deep emotional toll on him and our family made me realise the critical need for comprehensive support for others affected by youth violence.

Our Vision:

At ALIVE, our vision is to create a safe, supportive community for young survivors of knife crime and youth violence, where they and their families can find strength, healing, and hope. We’re here to foster resilience, empower lives, and help build a stronger, safer community through accessible support and meaningful programs.

What We Do

Counselling Services:

  • One-to-One Counselling: Personalised sessions for individuals facing trauma and stress.
  • Group Therapy: Supportive group sessions for shared experiences and mutual encouragement.

Physical Activities:

  • Personal Strength Training: Fitness programs designed to enhance both mental and physical well-being.
  • Football Sessions: Team activities to foster community, build confidence, and improve fitness.

Community Engagement:

  • Support Networks: Peer-led groups to reduce isolation and build connections.
  • Community Events: Regular events to unite the community, raise awareness, and provide a sense of belonging.

Strong Partnerships

We’re proud to have the support of Archbishop Ilsley School, local police, and Bordesley East Primary Care Network, all of whom recognise the importance of ALIVE’s goals and the growing need for these services. Together, we are committed to responding to Birmingham’s increase in knife crime and youth violence, offering the resources and support that the community truly needs.
