Alina Orchestra is committed to providing opportunities, where possible, for young aspiring soloists, composers and conductors to showcase their excellence.
Alina believes that to be part of a community, we need to serve the needs of that community. We are committed to providing a dedicated programme of outreach wherever it is needed locally to support vulnerable groups, promote wellbeing and bring members of the community together. This includes:
- A bespoke programme of wellbeing workshops for residents of local care homes in Milton Keynes and Buckinghamshire, support those living with neurological disorders. These workshops feature music, song, communication and interaction and are designed to improve the quality of life of residents, evoke memories, and support the valuable work of care home staff. Currently, we work with 20-25 residents in each home using an experienced workshop leader accompanied by one of our professional musicians.
- Providing musical opportunities which support local music services and their students. Currently, we create live GCSE syllabus set-work events and work
side-by-side with Alina musicians and music service students to perform educational concerts. Currently, we work with over 300 students.
- ‘Band in a Van’ is a series of small, interactive music and wellbeing events for those members at the heart of disadvantaged communities that, for whatever reason, do not have access to classical music and its many benefits via traditional concerts. Band in a Van currently performs 27 days of workshops a year to over 1000 people in family/ children’s centres, libraries and visually impaired groups in the region. In 2024, Band in a Van was shortlisted for an award as part of the Classic FM ‘Music Teacher of the Year’ series of awards.
- The Orchestra also collaborates with local choirs, musical groups, galleries, and many more to create fantastic partnerships for concerts, events or community projects, providing opportunities, where possible, for young aspiring soloists, composers and conductors to showcase their excellence
