Alfriston Preschool Closing Down Debt Clearing Fundraiser
As you'll likely know, Alfriston Preschool sadly closed its doors in October after 50 years of nurturing the children in our community. As for so many other childcare settings in the UK who have also had to close, limited funding from the government and staff shortages made it impossible for the preschool to continue.
A small group of parents who volunteered on the committee have been working hard over the last few months to finalise the closure. Despite selling off the preschool assets, a £1900 debt remains. This includes £1000 of hall fees (which the hall have said, as a charity, they are unfortunately unable to waive), payments of the wonderful staff's pensions and also administrative costs.
The small group of parents who volunteered on the preschool committee are legally required to pay this debt from their own pockets if it cannot be raised by other means. The committee are therefore asking for donations to help clear the debt.
We know that there are many parents and people in our community who have fond memories of Alfriston Preschool. We are hoping that people may wish to donate to say thank you for the wonderful memories that the preschool helped create for our children, and for all it did for our community. Your donation would be hugely appreciated so that we can make all of the final payments for our staff pensions and the hall fees.
Thank you!
