Having been living together for over a decade now, we have most of the stuff we need. So instead of the usual wedding gifts we are asking our guests to contribute to our tree fund.
We are planning to plant an orchard and a hedge of over a hundred native British trees in our garden. These trees will help support wildlife such as bees, butterflies and birds; by providing food, shelter and a corridor to connect fragmented woodland habitats in our area.
We will be buying our hedge trees from the Woodland Trust, who support tree planting and habitat restoration around the UK. We will be buying fruit trees from a local nursery who are familiar with the soil conditions in our area.
Any extra money after buying all of the trees we can fit in our garden will go towards other gardening projects such as raised beds etc.
