We're Aiming High! Please help us replace our roof

Aim: To upgrade our roof and insulation to increase capacity, continue and increase our social impact and reduce our environmental impact.

Hereford Yoga CIC and Cup Ceramics CIC are really proud to bring award-winning yoga and pottery services to the people of Hereford. As neighbours and partners we share the vision of sustaining a community hub that significantly contributes to the cultural landscape of Herefordshire. HYC is integral to the achieving Herefordshire Council’s aim of making non-medical health and wellbeing services available to everybody, improving long-term health and happiness and reducing health inequalities. CUP Ceramics Community provides access to the therapeutic and creative benefits of working with clay for a wide range of users including those with physical and mental disabilities, whilst supporting members and the next generation of makers to achieve excellence in craft. Both organisations hold regular, free events adding to the  cultural landscape of Herefordshire.

Both Community Interest Companies operating in this well-loved community hub contribute significantly to health and wellbeing, reducing social isolation and building social capital in Herefordshire. The funding landscape is so tough at the moment and after a year of slogging away we still haven't got the backing that we need- So we're turning to you, our community, to support us! 

Since opening we have achieved so much, but for us to sustain and expand this great work, we need your help to raise £10,000 to contribute to our total cost of £20,000 to REPLACE OUR ROOF!

What's the issue? 

The current roof panels are old and not fit for purpose. Due to the lack of proper insulation the yoga studio is far too hot in the summer and very cold in the winter, and the ceramics studio suffers from severe condensation dripping down onto users and their work as well as from a very cold environment. This means that both organisations are spending mote than they should on energy- money that could otherwise be spent on increasing their social impact. It also means that our environmental impact is higher than it should be. By replacing the existing roof we will upgrade insulation, reduce condensation and increase capacity. We are committed to becoming carbon neutral, and a new roof will allow us to install solar panels, hugely reducing both our running costs and carbon footprint. 

Impact 

• This project will enable CUP Studio to build our mezzanine internal expansion to widen our social impact- utilise the space much for effectively running workshops / outreach sessions /events simultaneously and really making use of the building to maximise the benefits for the local community
• Solve the serious condensation in the CUP studio, where large amounts of moisture drip down onto our equipment and the clay creations made by our participants
• Ensure that the Yoga studio is useable all year round- so that the increasingly hot summers do not make the first-floor studio too hot to yoga in
• Vastly improve the efficiency of our building with improved insulation
• Allow us to instal solar UV panels and become carbon neutral
