My aim is to raise a couple of months rent and food money for a friend, an ex-street boy from Kigali, Rwanda

by Beverley Dubus Rowland in Littlehampton, England, United Kingdom

Dear people who I know. Every so often, I help a friend to pay his monthly rent if he needs it.  This month I can help a little with money for food but not as much as normal, as we are still trying to catch up with our overdraft after receiving a furlough late. My friend lives in Kigali, Rwanda. He was born during the genocide. He lived with his mum until he was 12, then, due to poverty, he lived on the streets. He has, since then, made amazing progress, completed an apprenticeship in hospitality and is (or was, pre covid) a barrista in a cafe, this wage normally covers his rent of a room. His rent is now due again and there are no tennants rights or straightforward welfare. I am reaching out to people I know...and those I dont, to help pay Deiudonne's rent by chipping in whatever you can! Those of you who know me, will already know this is genuine.  Please message me if  you want to know  more about how I know him. I really want to help him stay off the streets if I can. Although Rwanda has done well keeping covid at bay...just across border, in DRC, they are struggling with a new outbreak of Ebola.
