This crowdfunder campaign titled “Help our Community Scuba Clubs St Austell & Truro” supports Sunshine and Showers, a peer support charitable organisation offering access to scuba diving activities within a unique Cornish dive centre dedicated to making scuba diving accessible to individuals of all ages and abilities, including those with disabilities and neurodiverse conditions.
Operating in the St Austell and Truro areas, the centre offers inclusive scuba clubs and water skills classes, fostering confidence and mental well-being through underwater activities.
Sunshine and Showers runs weekly pool sessions for children from age eight and weekend clubs for participants up to age 75. These sessions, led by qualified professionals and volunteers, feature activities like blind diving, cave-diving scenarios, and reef protection exercises. The centre also engages in marine conservation efforts, such as the Dive Against Debris initiative, and provides SSI and PADI standard and specialty courses.
The fundraiser aims to raise £8,000 to cover running costs including pool fees, servicing and air fills. Funds will also cover additional equipment like buoyancy control devices, small cylinders, fish identification cards, and subsidized memberships for low-income families.
As of now, the campaign has raised £1,833 from 26 donations. Contributions will help Sunshine and Showers continue its mission to provide inclusive and affordable scuba experiences and marine education to the community.
