Who we are
Founded in 2017, we are a charity based in North Devon, supporting children, young people and adults across Devon and in Taunton and Bridgwater, Somerset.
We provide 20 outdoor activities from kayaking, surfing, paddle boarding and coasteering in and around water to archery, bushcraft, climbing, horse riding and mountain biking on land.
Our activities strengthen resilience, improve vitality and self-esteem, provide a sense of accomplishment, help people who are isolated to form friendships and create special memories for families.
Referrals to our service can be made by Mums, Dads and Grandparents or through professionals, such as the NHS, Social Services, schools and colleges, other charities and community organisations.
We work with qualified activity instructors, occupational therapists and psychotherapists to support our beneficiaries and ensure we are there to support them through their brightest days; and their darkest days.
We currently have a shortfall of £8,500 towards the purchase of a robust 4x4 vehicle to enable access to our activities for children, young people and adults with additional needs.
The power of time spent outdoors in nature and adventure
The vehicle provides 7 seats and will enable our charity to transport up to 5 of our beneficiaries (plus driver and support worker) across muddy fields, into remote woodland, onto open moorland and sandy shores.
It is so much more than that though. Your support provides resilience. Vitality. Improved self-esteem. An opportunity to form friendships. And for families of children, young people or adults who have a life-limiting illness, to create special memories.
Access Adventure
Your kindness will mean we can transport essential equipment to activities, too. This includes our adaptive surfboard which enables a child or young person with a physical disability to experience the visceral power of the ocean. It means we can ensure our gazebo is available to protect privacy, so people can get changed for activity sessions at remote locations in confidence and it means we can carry all-terrain wheelchairs, kayaks and mountain bikes where they are needed.
Reaching out to the community
By being signwritten with the Adventure Therapy "brand" the vehicle will enable us to become more prominent in the communities we serve, helping to spread the word about our cause so people know who we are and how to get in touch for support.
Be part of it
We have already raised an incredible £53,000 specifically towards the purchase of the vehicle but we need to do more to achieve our mission. This also includes equipping the vehicle with an expedition style roof rack, tow hitch, access ladder and all-terrain tyres to transport equipment and reach our destination.
Your donation, of whatever size, could make the difference and help to provide access to outdoor and adventure-led activities for children, young people and adults who face their own unique challenges, every day.
Will you get on board and be part of their journey to outdoor adventures.
Thank you for your kind and generous support. It makes such a difference.
