Autism Allotments is a volunteer-led community group in Thurnscoe, South Yorkshire. We’re creating a safe and supportive space for autistic children, young people, and adults to learn and grow together. We also welcome people with disabilities and additional needs - everyone’s welcome here!
Our Crowdfunder
Inclusive play equipment means all children can experience the joy of being outdoors - it will be the perfect complement to our garden.
We need your help - support our #AAPlayAppeal to fund inclusive and accessible play equipment for Autism Allotments!
We’re asking for support to raise £6,000 to fund a basket swing and gravity bowl.
Thanks to the dedication and determined efforts of our co-founder Paul, the cost of this equipment has already been significantly discounted for our project. We’re grateful to our volunteers and supporters for helping to create the base for the equipment and to suppliers Playdale for their generosity. This has all helped to keep costs much lower than they would have been otherwise.
Why’s it so important?
We believe all children should have the chance to play together, benefitting from being outside by interacting with their environment, learning from nature, and developing through play.
Inclusive and accessible play areas aren’t commonplace, and it can be difficult to find spaces like this.
Help us create a safe and supportive space for everyone
Autism Allotments started out as an idea to tidy up a single allotment plot and redesign it to be suitable for autistic people, with sensory elements throughout. Since then, the project has grown and grown, it’s now five plots in size.
We’re already welcoming local schools and colleges, and look forward to welcoming visitors from further afield in the near future.
Our project is entirely run by volunteers and relies on the support of them, local businesses, and supporters up and down the country to keep moving forward. We’re working towards the opening of the first phase of our project in summer 2024.
By supporting our Crowdfunder, you’ll be helping to create a legacy for years to come. Thank you!
