- NoWhether we have always drawn or painted or if we are a beginner, there could be no better tutor than Marty. It may have been 2016 when my husband Mike and I, decided to join a Life drawing class at the Upper Norwood Library. Mike went to art school and worked in advertising and graphics. I had always loved art and used it as a hobby, but little did we know what a difference Marty's Life class was going to make to our lives.
He has been the means of building up a wonderful friendship group, because he cares so much for each person. He wants to inspire, guide and encourage all who attend his class. There are no barriers. whether a student, a working parent, a business person or aged man or woman and those with an already developed artistic talent, Marty is there for all. Week after week, he has never failed to find models for the class, to set the session up with paper, drawing boards and a whole variety of mediums to choose from. The whole two hours are enhanced by a calming choice of music and his humour is something else. He is certainly a raconteur and can spin a wonderful yarn, particularly over his cup of tea in Faber and Fox, the pub a few yards from the Library. Marty is a brilliant portrait artist and his dearest wish is to be recognised as such. We hope and pray that the move to Bristol with his beloved wife Tamzin, will help his dream to come true.
