A Thank You Gift for Fr. Dominic – From a Community That Loves Him
Hi, I’m Brittany. I work in Holywell as a dance and fitness teacher, and I’m not originally from the churches Fr. Dominic served — but like many of you, I’ve been touched by his presence in this community. His faith, his gentleness, his love for people… it’s impossible to miss. You don’t have to be one of his parishioners to feel how deeply he cares. And how rare that kind of priest truly is.
Fr. Dominic Austin has been a powerful and faithful presence in Holywell and Greenfield since 2020. He arrived as the youngest priest in the Diocese of St Asaph, stepping into a ministry during one of the hardest times our world has faced — and he showed up with warmth, humility, compassion, and faith.
He has brought comfort in grief. Strength in hardship. Light in darkness.
He’s encouraged the brokenhearted. Listened when no one else would.
He’s shown up — over and over — even when it was hard.
And now, he’s in a difficult place himself.
Fr. Dominic has stepped back from ministry after what we know has been a painful and challenging season. I don’t know every detail, but I know enough to say this: he didn’t deserve to be let down the way he has been. Not after giving so much. Not after loving so well.
The Church is meant to be a place of love, support, and healing — and when it fails someone, especially someone who gave his life to it, it’s devastating. I can’t fix what’s happened. But I can do something.
So Here’s My Heart, and My Ask:
I’ve started this crowdfunder as a way of saying thank you. Not just from me — but from all of us who have been blessed by Fr. Dominic’s ministry. Whether you knew him personally, followed his online reflections, saw him serve at weddings, funerals, school visits or Sunday services… or just felt encouraged by who he is — this is our chance to give back.
All funds raised will go towards:
I believe in honouring the good people. The kind people. The ones who show up when they don’t have to.
And Fr. Dominic is one of those people.
Whether you can give a little or a lot, thank you. Truly. Let’s remind him what community is really meant to look like.
With love,
Brittany x
