Assalamu Alaikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh,

Dear brothers and sisters,

I pray this message reaches you in good health and strong Iman.

I’m writing to you today with a sincere and personal appeal. Like many Muslims living in the West, I face a difficult challenge: I want to provide my family with a stable, halal home, but I cannot take out a mortgage due to the involvement of riba (interest), which is clearly prohibited in our religion. This leaves me and many others in a painful situation—wanting to do the right thing Islamically, while also struggling in a rental market that is unstable, unaffordable, and often unfair.

My family and I have had to move multiple times over the years, not by choice, but because of changes in landlords, increasing rent, or properties being sold. Each move brings with it emotional strain, financial cost, and instability—especially for children who need security and consistency to thrive. We long for a permanent place to call home, a place where we can build our lives in peace, without the fear of being uprooted again.

Because we cannot use interest-based loans, I am turning to you—my Muslim community—for help. I believe we have the power to support one another in a way that is rooted in our shared faith, compassion, and solidarity. If we help each other in these moments of need, we can build a future where no Muslim feels they have to compromise their values just to have a roof over their head.

Your contribution will not only help me and my family, but inshaAllah, it will also be part of something bigger—a model of what it means to care for one another as an ummah. And I want you to know something important: If any donor requests for their contribution to be returned in the future, I will do my utmost to honour that, bi'idhnillah.
