This short documentary intends to bring the sinking of HMS Glorious back to the forefront and continue the investigation into the truth.

On the 8th June 1940, the British Royal Navy’s only fleet ship and one of just three aircraft carriers at the time, HMS Glorious and her two escort destroyers, HMS' Ardent and Acasta, were torpedoed by German battleships Scharnhorst and Gneisenau, sending all 3 ships to the ocean floor in the Arctic Sea. Killing 1531 men from across (mainly) Britain and Malta and 10 military branches, an estimated 900 abandoned ship, just 40 managed to survive.

The incident cost the lives of more people than on the Titanic, yet the incident isn't surrounded by the same level of infamy, more easily dismissed as a casualty of war. The incident and the controversy surrounding it was debated in British parliament right up until 1999, yet no one talks about it. With records being sealed for 100 years following the military investigation, the biggest question remains - WHY?

This documentary follows relatives of the fallen, seeking the truth behind the incident through the telling of human stories and investigation into the incident via myth debunking and the discovery of new information and evidence that could finally uncover the truth.

We have a limited budget for this project which will not cover the basic needs to complete a maximum output. We intend to film on HMS Belfast which will take up the majority of our budget with little left even for travel. We would be incredibly grateful to anyone that wishes to donate to help us not only reinvigorate this case, but to progress in finding the answers that the fallen, the survivors and the families so truly deserve.
