Aim: Shaping Disability Media by Showcasing Heartfelt Stories.

The Team Behind the Vision

The Ludwig Centre is not just a project—it’s a movement built by people who’ve lived the journey. Our founding team is made up of current and former athletes with direct experience in Paralympic and disability sport. We’ve trained, competed, coached, and broadcast on national and international stages. Now, we're coming together to shape the future of sports media from a place of understanding, purpose, and passion.

We know the barriers that exist—because we’ve faced them. From underrepresentation in the media to a lack of accessible training facilities, the path into sport and media for disabled people is often defined by limitation. Our goal is to break down those walls and replace them with opportunity, visibility, and real-world skills.

What unites us is our belief in the power of sport to change lives—and the importance of giving young disabled people the tools to tell their own stories. Through The Ludwig Centre, we’re not only creating a space for elite parasport and inclusive fitness but also a training ground for the next generation of broadcasters, journalists, producers, and storytellers.

  • Together, our team brings expertise in:
  • Elite Paralympic competition and coaching
  • Media production and live broadcasting
  • Disability advocacy and inclusive education
  • Sports event management and digital content creation

We're not just building a centre, we're creating a legacy. And we’re doing it from within the community it’s designed to serve.

The Idea

The Ludwig Centre is a bold and transformative project that aims to level the playing field in sports media and accessible fitness. We are building a fully accessible, state-of-the-art facility that combines a television studio, gym, sports hall, production control room, café, editing suites, and offices. At its core is a 3-year Sports Media Course for young people aged 16–25 with physical disabilities. This course, designed in collaboration with The Disability Sports Channel, offers real industry experience, accredited training, and the opportunity to tell powerful, inclusive stories from within the world of disability sports.

We believe the sports industry is strongest when it reflects everyone. The Ludwig Centre will empower a new generation of disabled creatives, athletes, broadcasters, and journalists to lead that change.

The Vision

Our vision is to become the UK’s most inclusive hub for sports broadcasting and fitness. By merging media and accessible sport in a single site, we’re creating a pipeline of talent for an industry that urgently needs more diversity, and a place where elite parasport and grassroots events can thrive side by side.

We want to:

  • Give physically disabled young people the tools, training, and confidence to build careers in media.
  • Offer elite and grassroots-level parasport a home in the Southwest, with wheelchair basketball and rugby tournaments streamed live from our studios.
  • Be a centre of excellence that redefines what’s possible in both fitness and storytelling for disabled communities.

Why Crowdfunding?

We’re raising £250,000 as part of our larger £6.2 million development to fund:

  • Adaptive media equipment (cameras, tripods, desks)
  • Our student-led digital storytelling lab
  • A fully fitted broadcast studio
  • Scholarships and travel support for students
  • A national awareness campaign and launch event

This part of the budget is about the impact that can be seen putting tools in young people’s hands, creating real content, and opening doors to careers that once seemed impossible.

This is more than a building. It’s a launchpad for careers, a home for inclusive sport, and a voice for stories that need to be heard. With your support, we can change lives on screen, on court, and far beyond.
