My name is Mir Tanzir Mahmud, and I’m humbly reaching out with a desperate appeal.

I’m a PhD student in Finance—a dream I’ve fought fiercely to keep alive. In the first year of my studies, I suffered a catastrophic brain injury that changed everything. I was on ventilation for 29 days, fighting for my life. The trauma left my right side paralyzed, severely damaged my vision, partially took my hearing, and left me with facial palsy.

I underwent four major surgeries—including operations on my face, eyelid, and eyeball. The recovery was excruciating. But through determination and the support of my university, I survived. The university paused my studies to give me time to recover. And in March 2024, after years of fighting for my health, I resumed my PhD.

But now, I face a different kind of struggle—financial.

I’ve already paid £12,000 for my second academic year, and £6,000 for my current year. But I’m unable to pay the remaining £6,000 due by November 2025. Despite applying for a tuition fee waiver, the university denied my request.

After surviving a near-death experience, after years of painful recovery, I now fear losing my PhD because of money.

I can’t let that happen. This degree is not just an academic goal—it represents everything I’ve endured and overcome. Stopping now would mean losing the very purpose that kept me fighting through the darkest days of my life.

So I am reaching out to you. Please, if you can, help me raise the remaining £6,000 to continue my education and fulfill the dream I fought death to hold on to.
