To start a Judicial Review regarding Auchentiber BESS, Inverclyde. To engage a solicitor and advocate to reverse the decision.

The Gryffe valley is a mix of agricultural land (which will be built upon for this), rugged moors, farms, villages and towns, tranquility and beauty. The 700MW site - the largest to be built at a standalone site, is on 65 acres 300m from habitation. No fire risk assessment, no flora and only partial fauna assessment, 24 lighting 1km from an RSBB protected site for hen harriers, bats are in adjacent trees, site for migrating birds, off an unclassified road, is right against the banks of the River Gryffe where the runoff from the building will enter the watercourse,  is upstream of flood plains in Kilmacolm and Bridge of Weir. There will be an estimated 50 tonnes of lithium

Battery storage units are not benign. They may give off lithium fluoride, methane, hydrogen, carbon monoxide and Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) into the environment. Daily, they give off carbon dioxide. Like cars, the lithium batteries can explode or go on fire. The units affected will be left to burn out, releasing these chemicals.

The site is upwind of Port Glasgow, Kilmacolm and Greenock and surrounding farms and livestock.  A fire in Liverpool of a 20MW and 4 shipping containers exploded and went on fire. It took 3 days and 25 million litres of water to douse the site. This site is planed to be 700MW, 300m from habitation. The site is boggy and removing the surface will contribute to water runoff into the river.

Although accepting BESS is already being used and will be used in the future, the scale, the destruction and position of this is entirely in the wrong place.. There is also another planning application adjacent to the accepted site for 400MW, 200m to habitation, making this the largest standalone site, almost three times bigger than the largest so far.

A Judicial Review in the Court of Session will assess the irregularities of the application and we are advised that there is a case to refuse the accepted . Please, please help us, a family of 3, to fight this. It is extremely expensive but we strongly feel the area is not the right place is many ways for this construction.
