Winter weather makes extra food essential

We would like to thank our new supporters for donating this week, as we are having to supplement the goats with extra feed during this terrible weather of snow and rain. The pledges help us pay for the food and wellbeing of all our Rare Breed animals.

The goats, in particular, are burning calories constantly when the temperature drops below 0C and although they snuggle up together at night they still need to eat a massive quantity during the day to keep warm and survive.

They are a hardy breed but these winter days and nights are a challenge for all animals who stay outside in all weathers.

In order to keep them going until Spring arrives we are using 20kg bags of supplement feed which costs £10 each.

With temperatures constantly below 5C here in Northumberland at the moment and snow falling every week this year so far, we are making sure they are kept as well fed as possible.

Please share this update on your social media and help us raise awareness of our Rare Breeds.

Thank you.
