The Challenge:
Throughout August, the Living Sport team are putting themselves through their paces to raise funds to support our #LocalJoes.
As a new member of the team, I'm also taking part and have set myself a unique challenge, that will push me beyond our normal levels of activity. My pledge is to run, bike or walk 70 miles in 7 days, and I'm asking friends and family to join me and get active, as this is at the heart of what Living Sport is all about. I'm also doing this whilst working for 3 of the 7 days!
Why #LocalJoes?
Joe Wicks was a national hero through lockdown – keeping people active and spirits up. He helped people feel connected at a time when so many of us felt lost.
At Living Sport, we are privileged to work with hundreds of #LocalJoes. People who run walking groups, yoga teachers, football clubs, charities who provide classes for older people, and so many more. Day to day they are an essential part of keeping people connected, active and well.
Throughout lockdown they continued to help wherever they could – offering free online classes, delivering workout plans and equipment to people who don’t have the internet, and fundraising for their local communities.
As lockdown is lifted our #LocalJoes will adapt again. And they’ve never been more essential. The pandemic has had a massive impact on the mental and physical health of local people.
The funds we raise through this challenge will help us provide advice, support and funding to help our #LocalJoes adapt and reconnect with those most in need, when they need it most.
We would be very grateful for your support and we'd love to hear about your #LocalJoes too!
Thank you for your support!
