Who are we?

• Gelligaer boxing club was established in 1965,In this time we have provided a safe place for anyone who wants to learn to box, keep fit and compete if they wish. The club is run entirely by volunteers who have given up they're time to help anyone who wants to learn.  Our excellent coaches have over 80 years of combined experience in boxing and have had great success over the years, the legendary Dai Gardiner has trained some big names in boxing such as Lauren Price, Robbie Regan, Steve Robinson and the matchstick man Johnny Owens and still training our boxers 5 nights a week at 83 years of age.

Why are we crowdfunding?

We are trying to raise money to update the gym and make better use of space so that it can provide training for many years to come. The club is run entirely by volunteers and has very little financial help.  We keep our membership fee as low as possible it's just £2 per week for juniors and £3 for adults for 4 sessions a week, we do this to insure everyone can afford to come and use the gym, but as you can imagine there's very little money to purchase new equipment/repairs etc so we rely very heavily on grants and fundraising. 

How we’ll spend the money raised

The money will be spent on the following

*cctv this is needed to protect our building from break ins and vandalism 

*lockers for members to store kit etc

*roof insulation 

*office equipment /furniture so that we can complete club admin ect

*painting/decorating the gym is in desperate need of painting/decorating and repairs

*fascia boards - the Fascias are old and rotten 

*sign needs replacing and updating with opening times/days/contact details 

*exterior painting

*guttering needs replacing 

*shelving units for storage 

*Digital weighing scales to accurately weigh our boxers

*interior doors and frames 

*exterior repairs

Community impact

• The club was established in 1965 and in this time it has provided the community with a safe place to go to learn to box, get/keep fit and meet with people.  The club is open to anybody aged 7 and upwards. Over the years we have helped all sorts of people change they're lives for the better.  We are getting new members weekly.

How you can play your part

There are four simple ways to help us reach our target, and make this project a reality.
