3Pillars Project works to prevent ex-offenders and young people vulnerable to crime from social exclusion and assists them to rehabilitate and integrate back into society. Through sports based mentoring, in custody and the community, we strive to transform the long term employment prospects of ex-prisoners, through structured apprenticeship programmes, paid work and support to gain qualifications.

Get ready to witness a remarkable journey as the dedicated team at 3Pillars Project, alongside our passionate apprentices, embarks on an exhilarating challenge to raise £20,000 for our transformative charity. We are thrilled to present the Yorkshire 3 Peaks Challenge, a daring trek across the breathtaking landscapes of Yorkshire's iconic peaks, taking place between June 28-30, 2024.
Our Mission:
At 3Pillars Project, our mission goes beyond sports-based mentoring. We are dedicated to preventing, intervening, and diverting young people within the criminal justice system towards positive life paths. This challenge is more than just a physical feat; it's a symbolic representation of our commitment to scaling new heights in support of those who need it most.

We invite you to be a vital part of our mission by sponsoring our Yorkshire 3 Peaks Challenge. Your support directly contributes to raising £20,000 for our charity, enabling us to continue our impactful work with young individuals at risk of, or within, the criminal justice system.
The Challenge:
The Yorkshire 3 Peaks Challenge is no ordinary feat. Our team, comprised of 3Pillars Project staff and dedicated apprentices, will conquer the peaks of Pen-y-Ghent, Whernside, and Ingleborough showcasing our commitment to overcoming challenges, just as we help young people overcome theirs. Apprentice is the term we use for a young person/ who has left the secure estate and one whom we are mentoring for their betterment. Most of our apprentices are from inner cities and have never seen let alone hiked a mountain!

Glory Story:
One participant who had previously never played rugby prior to engaging in the course and was initially reluctant to voice opinions, was quick to give up when they felt they weren’t picking up the skills quickly, and rarely took part in any warm up. Throughout the 8 weeks this participants’ self-confidence, attitude and team spirit transformed.
They were able to feel comfortable voicing their opinion, got stuck into drills and exercises, lead a warm up on their own, lead a coaching session for their group and on week 7 led a warm up drill as part of the joint training session with a group of external rugby players!
Ultimately this participant was able to be vulnerable in front of our coaches and the group and this led to increased confidence when speaking about personal opinions and experiences in a group, and was reflected in their behaviour on the pitch and in the classroom.
At the beginning of the course this participant stated that “they had never completed anything in their life’ and that ‘they can’t remember a time they have come up with their own ideas or been able to problem solve’.
This participant stated that having engaged with 3Pillars that they now feel more confident in themselves, they enjoy being part of a team and have learnt to keep trying when things are difficult, quitting is not an option! This participant stated;
“ I really enjoyed meeting and playing with the rugby boys on week 7, I would have never felt confident enough to lead a drill on my own in front of everyone before. I have really enjoyed learning new things and having finished this course I can say I have completed something and feel proud of that.”
