CTLA urgently needs to replace 2 aging fleet buses . If we cannot replace these buses, this will reduce our fleet and community services.

We're still collecting donations

On the 11th July 2024 we'd raised £10 with 1 supporters in 56 days. But as every pound matters, we're continuing to collect donations from supporters.

The Objective....We need to replace some of our older, more costly to run, minibuses which provide essential travel for communities in the Lewes and Wealden Districts with newer minibuses which are less expensive to operate and also "greener" for the environment. Our minibuses provide essential, often and frequently the only travel options, for all those who cannot use public transport for personal mobility or health reasons or who live in remote rural areas where there is no provision.

The Reason... With mainstream bus companies cutting transport services to outer rural towns and villages, it up to the council and community transport to provide urgent travel and transport.

Without transport and the ability to travel, people feel trapped and isolated with no means to reach family, friends, events, important appointments and meetings, socialise, work or shop.

Without means of transport and being unable to travel, people feel trapped, isolated, lonely, depressed. These feelings have a devastating effect on people's mental health and wellbeing. People are unable to connect with nature and the outdoors and this prevents people from the wellbeing feeling good about themselves - something everyone wants and needs.

With increases in cost-of-living, fuel and operational costs, together with extra demands on our buses, so 2x of our buses have outlived their road safety requirements and are too costly to continue repairing and replacing parts.

With mainstream transport services declining, this puts added pressures on community service operators, services and aging buses needing to operate more.

We need 2x secondhand replacement (midlife) buses urgently before these 2x buses must be taken off the road. We cannot afford new buses with facilities for chair lift, ramps, etc. We can afford secondhand buses at £15,000 each (£30,000 total) but we have identified the buses we need.

Who We Are... CTLA is an independent community transport operator providing community travel across East Sussex. We provide the transport for communities. Communities are people, families, neighbourhoods and you.

As a community charity, CTLA depends on the generous donations from local councils, companies and local people. Without this funding, we cannot operate. We cannot provide these much needed services - fact.

We have been providing essential community transport for people, families and communities - especially for the elderly and disabled - for over 20 years and recently won a community services award, voted by the people.

Our Hope... We hope you can help. You donations, however big or small, are one step closer to achieving our goal and keeping the buses rolling.... Thanks for reading our appeal.
