We are an extremely succesful Scout group, formed in September 2013. We now run Beaver, Cub and Scout sections, supported by the very best leadership team! We currently have around 85 young people and a waiting list of around the same number.
We are limited to our group size due to the space available to us. We are currently meeting in the local school hall and corridors and also the village hall, with each section having just 75 minutes per week to meet. We are now actively fundraising to build our own purpose built facility to use. Once built, out aim is to add extra sections for the 4 -6 and 14 - 18 age groups along with additional Beaver & Cub sections, with a total youth membership of around 200. We just need the space!
Supported by the local Parish Council, we have now secured a lease on the land and we have full planning permission granted. Now all we need are the funds to enable us to build.
A vital part of scouting is to allow young people to enjoy the outdoor lifestyle and take part in camps and adventures outdoors. As an added feature to our plans, the land we have been allocated also has a large area that we can use to practice camping, pioneering and other scouting skills. The whole site is contained within a fence line.
Being in the village also lends itself to enable the young people in the group to either walk or cycle to meetings, cutting down on vehicular traffic within our village as well as the obvious pollution that cars bring.
This Scout Headquarters will help provide many generations of scouts with years of enjoyment, learning and confidence building activities for hundreds of young people.
