Synopsis
20-year-old Amy is faced with an unexpected pregnancy. She feels she isn’t ready for motherhood and wants an abortion. But she is afraid to tell her older sister, Sophia. Out of fear of upsetting her, due to her ongoing struggles with infertility.
When Sophia accidentally finds Amy’s positive pregnancy test, Amy is forced to confront Sophia. Sophia dismisses her and avoids the conversation altogether because it's too painful. Until Sophia’s “baby,” Faith, who represents a complex form of solace, is unfortunately locked inside the flat. The doll is a coping mechanism she uses to process her trauma. This results in Sophia emotionally spiralling.
Amy realises that keeping secrets from the ones she loves, even if it's to protect them, only hurts them further. While Sophia learns to always be supportive of Amy, even when it is difficult for herself. Which in turn, guides them in fully understanding each other’s struggles. Causing in the pair’s bond to grow stronger.
Characters
AMY
Amy is a young, intelligent and empathetic woman. Who often prioritises other’s needs before her own. Recently, she discovered she is pregnant and feeling unprepared for such a big life change, has decided to have an abortion.
She deeply values the relationships she has with others. Particularly with her sister Sophia and her best friend and flatmate, Lily. She protects those around her by keeping her struggles to herself but learns that hiding the truth can ultimately cause more harm than good
SOPHIA
Sophia is Amy’s older sister. She’s nurturing and protective. She has bee through a lot of trauma, having experienced multiple miscarriages alongside her husband Mark. But her grief is evident, especially in her attachment to her doll Faith, which represents her lost children. She wants to support Amy but sometimes her grief gets in the way.
LOLA
Lola is Amy’s best friend and flatmate, who is kind and funny. Though she may not understand the weight of Amy’s situation, she is loyal, supportive and is always there for her.
