The 1984 Sikh Archive

Aims:

  • Build an extensive material on the events, the judicial cover-up and the denial of justice that followed.
  • Make available a unique collection of:
  • first-hand accounts, affidavits, and witness testimony
  • news footage from the time of the events
  • photography
  • press cuttings
  • day by day, hour by hour accounts
  • a catalogue of crimes, including hidden crimes, e.g., mass rape and the killing of children
  • commissioned articles
  • news and bibliography
  • official and unofficial inquiries

It will serve:

  • scholars, professional researchers, the media, writers, artists, students, and the public as a library of record
  • as a living memorial to the victims.
  • provide a wealth of materials available to ensure the horrors of 1984 are never repeated in the future.

Costs

The project has been costed at a tune of £3,000 broken down to the following approx. costs:

  • Website domain, platform, and subtitle tool:     £800
  • News footage royalties:                                        £1,000
  • Photo royalties:                                                      £1,200
  • Design, content, social media                              NIL
