Aim: I would like to repair roofs for family households in Gambia so the children have a safe place to sleep.
I have been traveling to Gambia for 9 years. On these visits I have been doing charity work. This work has involved visiting school, communities and churches in which I have built relationships whilst provided food, stationary, clothing and monetary gifts.
In 2024 I have built a borehole in Gamba for a family that has no access to clean water. The Borehole is on this families land however they are kind enough to allow access to the village.
A new roof on each household will stop the above from happening and allow a safe and liveable environment for the families. On the attached video, you can see the roof with holes, in which rain and water will enter the household. The holes are getting bigger and they are about to cave in, this is beyond repairing so the roofs have to be taken down and replaced.
The Photographs and videos attached are of my last trip to Gambia. They show where the borehole has been installed and the process of getting fresh clean drinking water.
£10,000 will be used to rebuild damaged roofs to provide a safe environment for families including children. Below are photographs and videos of the wear and tear of the destruction caused by the weather throughout rainy seasons. I would like to provide shelter against the rainy season which takes place in June to October. The rain can be unlivable. Families would have to use pots and pans to catch the water that is coming through the roof. This is to avoid getting the interior soaked.
This is now an opportunity for roofs to be fixed in Gambia although we thank you for every donation going forward to support this cause.
