The coast to coast cycle route is a 99-mile (158 km) journey across Devon, connecting Ilfracombe on the north coast to Plymouth in the south, primarily using off-road cycle paths and following disused railway lines.
The very brave Sue Bryant, who is undertaking the challenge said:
"This year I have set myself the challenge to cycle 100 miles coast to coast across Devon in a day by myself.
Last year I had the very lovely Matt cycling with me, and I honestly wouldn’t have managed it without him. We raised money for Happiness For All CIC that I know has made a difference to children via the school’s programme and adults who otherwise would not have afforded therapy and support.
But this year, it’s just me. That’s the challenge, at the same time raising money for a charity that I am passionate about. Access to support for mental health is so important and with the NHS struggling in the current economic climate people need other ways of getting that support.
When I needed support for my own mental health, the wait even as an NHS staff member was months. I’m forever grateful that I came across Jo and the happiness club, it has literally changed my life. This is such a small way of giving back, of supporting a charity that gives the kind of support that I know from my own personal experience absolutely makes a difference"
