MV Footwear currently run their Oxygen Shoes online retail business from a warehouse in Worcester. The Landlord has advised all of the tenants that he is planning to re-develop the whole estate into block of flats. As a result, we have been looking for alternative premises. The founder of the brand is Welsh and has always hoped to return there and this gives us the opportunity to make that move. Properties in Wales are also cheaper so we can look to buy a premises rather than to rent one.
Having researched the market, we feel that the the property that best reflects our story and our ethos is a disused Welsh Chapel. Sadly there are hundreds of these scattered across Wales. They are such beautiful buildings that have stood the test of time and with a little TLC can be put to good use again. By restoring one, we will be giving something back to the community, whilst at the same time providing us with a base at reduced costs from the current rent we pay. We also intend to employ an apprentice from the local community, to take over the Social Media side of the business and learn how we sell online.
We are in a position to purchase one with the help of a Bank loan, but we are also offering our customers a chance to pledge their support for the project . Money pledged will be rewarded with a discount voucher which can be set off against the cost of products on our website . All reward vouchers will be sent out as soon as the crowdfunder finishes. Money raised will be used in the renovation work.
Our intention is to move in the Summer when current stocks are reduced and before Winter stock arrives. I am getting a bit old to move all of those cartons.
We hope you will join us on this exiting journey.
