The children who attend STC's Nurture Project have all been permanently excluded from mainstream school and often display low self-esteem, are disengaged from learning, and many struggle to socially connect with their peers. The Nurture approach is an inclusive education model that offers a range of opportunities for children to revisit early nurturing experiences alongside accessing the national curriculum.
This year we hope to develop our Nurture Project further by creating an outdoor classroom that the pupils will love! Research shows that high-quality outdoor learning experiences are proven to help children develop reflective and inquisitive thinking along with problem-solving approaches in 'real' situations. The outdoor classroom also encourages the holistic development of children whilst promoting the development of resilience and adaptability skills.
