My name is Steve and I am a doctor currently working in the Manchester area.
I have been given the opportunity during the Summer of 2017 to have some time away from my job working in a GP practice and am planning a trip to Gulu, Uganda to work voluntarily in a small local hospital. Whilst I'm there I will be able to make a huge difference to the lives of local people, medical students and staff in this area of poverty and improve the quality of care provided to them.
As with most things, the cost of this trip is very large, but it's something that I believe will change my outlook on life but also change the lives of others and have a positive impact on the lives of those in desperate need and the most voulnerable living in poverty.
Sharing my knowledge and expertise through aiding medical students in Uganda is something that I have always wanted to do but never had the opportunity. From watching the suffering on television through campaigns such as WaterAid and Comic Relief, I am more passionate than ever to offer my help to those in need during my break from work.
I would appreciate even the smallest donation to this cause as fundraising for my trip is an ongoing process. The trip isn't cheap and so any support would be greatly appreciated from both me and my family. Please share this page on social media and try to get the word out there!
Thank you for your support - Steve :)
