Week 4 update

At the half-way mark of our eight week crowdfunder campaign, we've reached 15% of our target. We're grateful for all the support we've received so far - would you be willing to help us achieve our vision for our tenth year in 2018? We'd appreciate your help to share this campaign between now and 31st December.

This week we heard the stories of three people from three different continents who are seeking asylum in the UK because being open about their gender identity or sexual orientation in their country of origin could lead to hate crime with few legal rights, imprisonment or even death at the hands of the state or people taking the law into their own hands. We have already succeeded in helping one of them win the right to remain in the UK - we're now working to help the other two to feel safe, supported and loved as they go through the dehumanising process of seeking refuge in the UK. Hearing their stories is humbling, and seeing their hope in spite of great hardship is inspiring.

We also visited the 'Open Expression' community in Stoke, a partnership between Open Table and Urban Expression, an urban mission agency that pioneers 'creative and relevant expressions of the Christian Church in under-churched urban neighbourhoods' - After just over a year, Open Expression is doing really well, and is exploring new partnerships for next year, particularly with the Evangelical Fellowship of Lesbian and Gay Christians, which will benefit the whole Open Table network.

Your pledge will help make all this and more possible - thank you!
