I have spent the past 4 years studying as a pastry chef and I have completed my final year this May with an HNC in professional patisserie and confectionery with A grades and intermediate level in hygiene.
I started my own business on the 12th of October through Facebook offering a dessert delivery service which was very popular.
I started to do a pop up shop every Thursday in October which definitely brought in some interest.
I decided to pay for the full month at the pop up shop for November and December to see how it goes and I definitely get more sales when people see the produce in person and get to know you and ask questions about the business.
I have been doing gluten free, dairy free and vegan products as theres a gap for it on the market and I had people message me after purchasing to double check that the products they bought were definitely free from as they taste to good and I've been asked to keep the free from selection.
I decided to take the step of looking for a shop as I've been struggling to keep up with the demand by producing everything from home around my 2 year old daughter and being at the pop up shop 10am till 4pm so I need a shop where I can both produce my items and sell them.
I have found a shop in the busiest part of Castle Street in Forfar with an affordable rent and a very understanding owner. It's a very large and empty room which is why I'm looking for help to set it up but i have already bought kitchen units, undercounter fridge for ingredients, commertial display fridge and a double commercial sink which unfortunately pushed me into an overdraft as the pop up shop is classed as non essential and childcare is currently unavailable so working from home hasn't been going very well so I'm stuck till I either open the shop or childcare is back.
I'm still needing help to cover the costs of the following
* food display cabinets for non fridge products
* hand wash sink
* replacement side glass for display fridge as it broke when the seller took it apart
* electrician costs for installing a cooker
* plumber costs for installing drainage and water to both sinks
* cost of making the walls suitable for a food production area
* equipment, stock and packing
