As a hatter (men’s bespoke hats) with a wrist injury after birth, I was frustrated in my recovery. Whilst sharing my studio space with other craftsmen, joiners, metalworkers, I began to notice and collect off-cuts of woods and metal, at the same time I inherited a large amount of antique linen and cottons. I began to make experimental pieces with the brief of just making with love and joy, something that turned the materials into a pleasing piece. In responding to each scavenged material I turned my recovery into a new direction and found that the satisfaction in recycling and reusing so relevant in today’s world.
