New stretch target

Thank you so much to all of our supporters! We have decided to stretch our target and keep our project open to raise more funds. We do this so we can make a bigger donation to our charities, help more with post-production costs and help fund research and development of future projects.

ON-OFF Licence: A Brexit-inspired short film

As the issues of cultural division destabilise our society, communities can feel segregated and individuals more isolated.

On-Off Licence probes the state of our capital in post-Brexit Britain.

The Film:

On-Off Licence looks at the attempted armed robbery of a convenience shop. It focuses on two men, Hal and Tayshaun - two men from very different worlds who are suddenly forced into a situation together. Hal tries to rob the off-licence to pay off crippling debts. The shopkeeper, Tayshaun, fights back and captures him. As they wait for the police to arrive, the two men tear through their differences and face their similarities.

The film explores some of the themes raised by the Brexit divide: Getting our country back. Cultural divides. Fear. Lack of Communication and Distortion of facts.

On-Off Licence looks at how alienation may be affecting our communities and if there are ways to bridge the divide.

About the project
We're filming in spring in London to release late 2017.

This is the first project by Any Means Necessary, a new creative collective of actors, directors, producers, screenwriters and a whole host of other talented creatives.

Our mission is to create thought-provoking films that help people make sense of themselves and the world around them.

On-Off Licence is a collaboration by AMN Collective, Mellow 9 Productions and Feral Fox Films.

Why this film is important

The Brexit decision has divided communities across the UK. Whether one voted to Leave or to Remain, the polarisation of the nation in uncertain times heightens fears and tension.
The idea for the film is to explore the effect this political change has had on individuals: on their choices,  prejudices and sense of community. We wanted to see if there was a way for people from different worlds to find common ground, for them to find identification or even simply to communicate.
We are looking to raise £3,000 to produce On-Off Licence and cover all aspects of the project.
How the money will be spent:
LOCATION - London Off-Licence in N22
CAMERA & LIGHTING EQUIPMENT - Amira camera, set of prime lenses, LMB5, diopters, o’Connor head etc.
INSURANCE - For that expensive kit!
PROPS, CATERING & SHOOT EXPENSES - The crew and collective army marches on its stomach
EDITING & PROMOTION - For completion, screening and marketing of the film
CHARITY DONATION - If we make more than £3000 will will make a donation advised by www.dsc.org to help charities that have been affected by the Brexit vote, as well as specifically to HAGA and The Grove, London drug and alcohol treatment centres.
