Overview
Old Bakery Studios in Truro is a creative venture that includes artist and business studios within a renovation of an historic local site on the river, with a coffee bar and an exciting multi-purpose arts hub hosting varied events from art classes, fringe theatre, music gigs, talks and pop up supper clubs.
And so far, we've done it all ourselves. Currently we are renovating the riverside exterior, including the restoration and rehanging of the iconic 'Blewett's Wharf' industrial metal sign
But while we have cleaned up much of our ex-factory ground floor for our panoply of events, some of the internal facilities are still in desperate need of a refit. Our crowdfunding target is £5,700, which will allow us to install new disabled toilet and baby changing facilities on the ground floor. This will mean that our shows are accessible to everyone.

The feedback was that it was great to be able to walk to a venue in central Truro for these affordable, high quality little shows.
We understand the value of the arts in Cornwall, how they bring richness to the county and Truro as its capital city, and feel that by offering a fully accessible art hub and fringe venue we are allowing all the community as well as schools, colleges and universities an opportunity to showcase their talents. This will enable us to bring down events and exhibitions that without us might not have the opportunity to come to Truro.
We also offer an affordable space for young creatives to start their journey into work, as well as encouraging entrepreneurial excellence. With this in mind, access to all and removing all boundaries is paramount to our ethos here at OBS.
Our team and audience
We have a fantastic team working here and we're building an incredible audience too. Check out our social media channels for more information on past and future shows and the community we're building around us.

Why are we crowdfunding?
There is such a lot to do overall with this project. We've been going at it for two years, and have currently turned our attention to the much needed preservation and care that the hard-to-reach riverside face of our historic building deserves. Achieving our crowdfunding target will help us attain other goals far sooner, meaning that as our ground floor will be usable by everyone, even more community groups will be able to participate and appreciate the space.
Stretch goals
We'd love to continue this campaign if we quickly reach our target goal, by aiming for cycle and shower facilities. Then as a third goal raising money for our main front doors on Malpas Road to be converted would be fantastic. Watch this space!
