Our charity Making a Difference Tameside has been runnig for more than 13 years, founded by Janice Hogg who has supported people with Mental Health problems for 19 years. Making a Difference is a life skills and community work shop, supporting and developing people self-esteem and relationship skills through a range of social and vocational activities. Our belief is that people need to be seen and treated as something more than a psychiatric label or social work client. Our experiance is that long term and personal befriending that recognises loneliness, opression, marginalisation, loss and fear can lead to dramatic change.
Making a Difference is a social enterprise organisation currently funded by a variety of gifts and grants, enabling us to function as a charity. Our next step as a social enterprise is to open up OASIS Craft and tea room. A place for our memebers to continue to grow their skills and confidence along with experiance to continue in life. OASIS will have many aspects included those for the community and rasing awareness of Mental Illness. In order to make this dream a relaity and continue to help many people we need to raise some funds to get it off the ground. Thanks to many wonderful donations we have been able to get the building and get it up to a high standard we now just need to purchase essential items, coffee machine, tables and chairs, dishwasher and much more. All the money that comes in from OASIS will go back into the Charity to help grow and support many more people as the years go on.
Thank you for taking the time to read this and for your support.
