Oakfield Oval track is 25 years old next year and needs a new surface which is far more than the usual regular maintenance Nick has provided

by Oakfield Icelandic Horses in Verwood, England, United Kingdom

Oakfield Oval Track was the first permanent, full size oval track in the UK.  It has been well used over the last 25 years, hosting everything from our usual twice yearly shows, training courses several times a year, informal and British Championship practice and, of course Fancy Dress.  It has even hosted one British Championship.

Oakfield has developed into a beginner and intermediate training venue where we welcome all comers regardless of their abilities or experience, whether they want to ride for fun or prepare for the more formal FEIF competitions in this country or abroad.

Over 700 combinations of horse and rider have ridden the oval track and the use it has seen is starting to show, made far worse by recent undermining by furry critters that live on the farm.

Nick and his team have spent many hours and large amounts of resources to repair this undermining and to prevent it happening again.    This means that the surface now needs professional levelling and retopping.  The surface is being regraded with the equipment we have on the farm for the September show, being the one after the World Championships, it is usually our least competetive show so we are happy that the surface, although not yet perfect is safe and usable.

We hope that you will feel able to donate a little towards this project, to enable Oakfield Oval track to continue to provide a scarce opportunity for those who enjoy the facilities we offer.
