A book written using examples from experience of recovery to help people develop tools to deal with the challenges of life. Written because for many years I have used my experience of recovery to inspire and motivate people suffering from anxiety, depression, drug and alcohol misuse, mental health issues, loneliness and fear. I have worked with youths and adults with challenging behaviours, veterans, ex-veterans, families, and people who are lost and confused . Listening to people suffering and losing friends and family to addiction because they didn't understand what was happening to them or know what or how to change, motivated myself and Lorraine , to write a book called " The Power of Example" published by Publish America. The book inspired many people to pick up the tools offered within it and transform their lives. Unfortunately, the cost of the book doubled and became unaffordable to the people it was written for, which was a massive disappointment. We have now written a second book called "Now I understand - life on layman's terms", and we are looking to raise the funds to self publish this book to ensure it remains affordable so we may continue to help people transform their lives.
The publication of this book will allow us to reach people on a wider scale and allow us to continue our voluntary work, which is a big part of our life. Lorraine and I gave up full time work over 10 years ago and chose to open a drop in centre . It is open 2 days a week and we work with anyone who comes through the door. We write and develop our own material and so far over the past 10 years the positive changes within people's lives has been miraculous. It's because Lorraine and I work part time and voluntary we are having to ask for some help to publish our book. It's a book like no other and we firmly believe the material within the book will help those who are struggling with life and it's challenges. If the book goes the way we are hoping it will go , the money we raised will go straight back into another charitable cause. For we can only keep what we have by giving it away.
