Nottingham Night Owls was set up in 2015 as a student led project, aiming to help vulnerable students on nights out (in the early hours of the morning when crime rates against students are highest). The Night Owls do this through helping students get home safely through accompanying them in taxis or walking them home. In addition, the Night Owls also provide first aid, and useful items such as blankets, phone chargers, water, information and many other useful items.
From September 2015 - December 2016, Night Owls dedicated 2135 volunteer hours supporting the streets of Nottingham. During this time, Night Owls walked 179 students home, provided 194 students with minor first aid and provided significant assistance in 1173 cases. Further to this, Night Owls also collected a total of 4135 items of litter during this time, helping to improve the relationship between the two universities in Nottingham and the city, and help make Nottingham a cleaner and safer place.
Money raised will be distributed depending on how much we make on the following things:
£300 Cost of First Aid training for 1 group of 30-40 students
£250 Cost of Self-Defence training for 1 group of 30-40 students
£80 Cost of uniform
£750 Cost of stock (Medical and other bag supplies for shifts
Any donations will be greatly appreciated, and thank you for supporting our project!
