Where we are
Currently the school has limited access to computers. We have been awarded a grant to get high-speed internet and require the hardware to be able to teach the children essential computer and IT skills, fit for the 21st Century.
After trials of several different machines, and reflecting on the experience of our staff over both Rake and Rogate Schools, we have decided to go with the Acer Notebook, as it will work well with our new school wide alignment of Microsoft 365.
Where we want to be
As a result of getting access to the Notebooks, our children will gain more experience using technology across the curriculum. Most of the careers our children will be aiming for do not yet exist! Our job is to provide them with a range of opportunities to develop the skills needed for preparation, planning, logic, sound judgement and being first-class digital citizens. This is where their journey.begins.
We are lucky enough across both schools, to have staff who are knowledgeable and experienced in teaching using technology, taking part in training and experience teaching in other schools to share good practise and knowledge. Having these Notebooks will enrich teaching and the learning of our students.
Curriculum support
To support the teaching of computers throughout the school, we also wish to buy a subscription for Purple Mash, which develops curriculum skills in a supportive way and provides the opportunity to set work at home.
Learning support
Notebooks can also prove invaluable for those children who find accessing the curriculum difficult. It can be used as a dictation machine, which the child can then manually edit, and as a support tool to provide additional activities and challenges to those who need to be stretched, as teachers can assign work tailored to the needs and requirements of individuals within their class.
