Loud bagpipe music is being played throughout the night to stop homeless people sleeping rough in Bournemouth.
The nasally sounds are being blasted through speakers at a coach station from midnight until 6.30am.
We think this is completely unnaceptable. So do almost 90% of people polled in a recent survey.
Homeless people are not only often experiencing the most difficult times in their live but many also suffer from mental health problems. For the council to treat these human beings as a nuisance for wanting nothing more than a peaceful night's sleep is immoral and inhumane.
The initiative is understood to be the brainchild of Conservative leader of Bournemouth Borough Council, John Beesley.
To demonstrate our strength of feeling we have decided to tell Councillor John Beesley to "Pipe Down" and we want to raise enough money to have our own team of bag pipers follow him around, day and night, for at week and give him a taste of his own medicine until this horrendous practice is stopped.
Let's show him that there's no rest for the wicked and that we won't tolerate the persecution of the homeless in Bournemouth or anywhwre else.
As it will not (necessarily) be possible to serenade Councillor Beesley when he is in the office we will adopt a flexible approach. Any additional funds raised will be used to provide shelter for the homeless in Bournemouth.
