October 4th this year will see the first No Disposable Cup Day takes place across the World.
In the UK alone we use more than 7 million disposable cups every day, 2.5 billion each year! Fewer than 1% being recycled and the remainder taking 40-400 years to biodegrade. No Disposable Cup Day will encourage everyone to “ditch the disposable” for one day and promote the use of more sustainable alternatives – this is all part of the wider movement to reduce waste and prevent climate change.
World No Disposable Cup is an easy way to encourage millions of people to come together to take action on a single issue, by working together we can beat this single problem while helping to prevent further damage to the environment. Also by moving away from a disposable cup consumers are moving themselves towards greater climate awareness and opening themselves up to taking further steps to help reverse global heating.
Join us and donate or pledge so that we can employ committed staff to work full time on this project, to increase the necessary marketing and communications needed to promote No Disposable Cup Day and the wider warning from the World's scientists and so that we can start to remunerate some of the current army of volunteers and professional services all of whom have been working for free so far.
No Disposable Cup Day is an immediate action that can be taken by millions of people as was urged in 2017 in the “World Scientists’ Warning to Humanity: A Second Notice” which is endorsed by 21,000 (yes that's right 21,000!) of the World's most renowned scientists.
Please make a pledge to us, "ditch the disposable" on 4 October and also follow us on social media and tell all your friends!
