I am a fine art photographer based in Berkshire. I have exhibited my work locally in Berkshire and Hampshire and as far afield as Sheffield. Photography is a part-time passion; I earn my keep through working at the local college. I get a lot out of the medium of photography and from exhibiting my work, for which I've received many positive and encouraging comments. Putting on a show, though, costs me more than any income I receive from sales.
In May 2018, I am exhibiting my work in the new Cornforth Studios in Newbury as part of the Open Studios Scheme for West Berks and North Hants, where other artists in the scheme will also be exhibiting. My budget for printing and framing work, though, has now dwindled to zero and I need funds to go towards marketing and gallery costs.
I have considered funding schemes in the past, but hate asking for money. Using the Crowdfunder scheme, though, I can offer rewards in return for donations to the project including limited edition mounted prints or post cards of my work, depending on how much you would like to donate. Everyone who supports the project will receive an invitation to any private views and previews.
The inspiration for the exhibition, The Province of Coast, comes from the openness and simple landscapes of our coastlines. To me, these uncluttered spaces are a means of escape and relief where peace and clarity of mind are found.
As well as finding inspiration from coastlines and seascapes, I am dedicated to helping in the preservation of our oceans and coastlines. I will be donating 5% of sales from my exhibition, and any satellite exhibitions I take part in next year, to the Marine Conservation Society.
