Due to the turbulent political situation in Nicaragua I want to ease the burden of not being able work, or attend school.

by Jemma Reid in Masaya

The family is made up of 5 young children, a wonderful mother and caring grandmother.  The family are close to my heart having welcomed me into their home for three months to support community projects.

Now that the country is experiencing violence it has become impossible for the family to lead their normal lives. Work and school are not currently accessible making the ability to buy what rations are available incredibly difficult.

The average salary in the country is 300-400 dollars a month.   I would like to ease the burden for the family by raising a couple of months salary. This money will enable the family to focus on their own security and on leading as normal a life as possible at this time.

When the violence ends it is hoped that this money will assist the family in returning to their normal way of life.

The family are well known in the community and where their friends need support, they are always quick to help others.  Now it’s time to help them.

(If you are connected with me on Facebook you will be able to view photos of my time with the family. Photos of the family have not been added to the crowdfunding page out of respect for privacy.)

£300 will go directly to the family. All additional funds will go to the wider community and charities operating in the area.

Updates when possible

As I am in regular contact with the family I am keen to share updates on the family when possible.
