We couldn’t have ever imagined writing a letter like this, but we need to ask you for your support.
The coronavirus crisis has placed an enormous burden on the school’s financial resources. We’ve prided ourselves on running a small, annual surplus from the funds we receive from the council but this year, as we continue to meet the costs of keeping your children safe and protected, we are struggling to meet the costs of other urgently needed items.
The children need:
- 23 computers to be urgently replaced
- The playground to be re-painted to make it usable for longer
- Better toilet facilities.
In previous years we have received money from the council to cover the cost of replacing toilets and fix the fabric of the building. For a number of years now, this has been reduced substantially to only £8,000 a year, which barely covers the cost of building repairs and updates, which are needed each year. Sadly, Friends of Newnham Junior School (FONJSA) have not been able to offer their usual fundraising events to the school community during the pandemic.
We are struggling to make ends meet, and with the support of our Governing Body, we are asking our families, friends and the wider community to make a donation if they can. Every donation received will be so very much appreciated and will make a huge difference and we hope that with the support of our fantastic school community we can reach our goal.
You can donate an amount of your choice and your donation can be made anonymously if you wish.
Thank you, as ever, for your support.
Newnham wouldn't be the school it is without families like yours.
