I started The Swim Academy in February 2016 and we are now looking to expand by building our own pool based around the needs of our swimmers. In the last 18months we have helped lots of people with special needs enjoy the water, grown in confidence and learn how to swim. We have helped people overcome phobias of the water and taught many anxious adult beginners.
We work with people with a range of needs, such as, autism, dyspraxia, ADHD, Down syndrome and aspergers, nervous individuals and those with extreme phobias, as well as beginners and swimmers looking to improve their stroke. We run small group classes of no more than 4 in a class to ensure each child gets the attention they deserve.
With your help we can build a pool considering every aspect of sensory, physical and audio needs. Due to our approach and environment our swimmers thrive and progress quickly in the water whereas this has not been possible with other pools due to size, noise, lighting, crowds and many other factors.
To have our own premises would ensure the reliability and stability needed for such pupils. We will be able to tailor the environment to each individual. Making their experience with us as friendly, welcoming and safe as possible.
