We need your help to build our dream library!

New stretch target

If we manage to get the additional funding we can add even more fun aspects to the library making it a place that the children will really want to visit.

FoWCS will be funding most of the new library, but we just need a little bit extra help to create the school's dream library, which will benefit every child in the school.

The school's vision is to design a wonderful area that is accessible and used by the whole school. It will be a captivating, magical space to encourage a love for reading. The children will have reading nooks and comfy areas to allow them to enjoy books in comfort. The plan is to use new shelving units to create different areas, which will also create more space to house all the books.

The school have been working hard to promote reading for pleasure, they have successfully introduced a reading reward scheme to encourage reading at home and in school they have introduced D.E.A.R. time (drop everything and read time). During this time, children and adults are encouraged to sit wherever they like, under tables, in tents or snuggle under blankets, and get lost in a book.

The English coordinator at school, Mrs Scrivener, spoke with the Pupil Task Force about who was allowed to use the library and they stated that it could only be used by children who were on high-level books or by sick children who cannot go out at lunchtime. This was hard for Mrs Scrivener to hear as there are thousands of books in the library, which cannot be accessed by the majority of the children in the school and one of her fondest memories of school is going to the library to borrow a new book.
