My mother-in-law aged now 89 has been in hostel accomoation since the hurricaine. The British Government offered no money to help renew roof

by Anthony Barnett in Anguilla

I will be elligable for retirement next year and had planned to move to the family property where I could continue to work looking after my mother in law and her grandaughter (my daughter): her daughter - my wife and daughter's mum having passed away from ovarian cancer.

The best quote out of 3 that I have recieved is for a concrete roof that will be more structurally resiliant to the devastating hurricaine force of a catagory 5 than the previous galvanised construction. It includes labour and materials estimated to take 26 days to construct.

Until this work can be carried out the property is uninhabitable.
