Over my years of various struggles and experiences; I have met lifelong friends who have shared the journey with me. My friend Joe is one of those people. With a very similar set of experiences with the care system, etc, Joe and I have a mutual respect and understanding of each other. The thing I love most about Joe is his constant drive to be 'better', being 26 years old at College doing GCSE's can be daunting, especially when working a full-time job to survive. His end goal is to do a Social Work Degree at the University of Exeter.
Unfortunately, Joe has no support and has had a very difficult few months with health and work. He got told he had to vacate his house share by the end of September this year, then lost his job. This took its toll and he hasn't been very well. I am a student myself and I don't have the finances to help him get on his feet as much as I would like to unfortunately and the Council don't see him as a priority. He is currently staying in my student accommodation but this isn't a long-term fix. We found a house share today that he can move into tomorrow if we find the funds. I will be putting in my own funds, but I am asking you wonderful people to help. I would just like him to be able to have a home back and not worry about his first month's rent ... I believe so strongly in giving people lifelines to get to where they want to be ... I'm asking you to help us on this one.
Love one very grateful friend! x
